It never ceases to amaze us how many businesses are missing out on exceptional talent because of an inflexible approach to working hours or a suspicious attitude to women returning to work after starting a family. Their loss is our gain!
Our Shropshire team couldn’t believe their luck when Julie replied to their advert for an administrator to support their expanding team of consultants. When they saw the experience she offered, they were more than happy to accommodate her request to work flexibly around caring for her three children.
Julie started her career as an administrator, quickly working her way up to a team leader, then various managerial roles. She moved to Amsterdam, in 2003, to take up a Credit Control position at Seagate, looking after a ledger of $15m. After several ‘challenging but rewarding’ years in the Netherlands, she was relocated to the company’s Marlow offices. In 2011, she gave birth to twin boys, taking a career break until they started nursery school. In the meantime, she moved back to Telford to be closer to family and friends.
She rebooted her career as a branch support co-ordinator with a Telford-based recruitment company. Unfortunately, they were unable to offer any flex in her working hours after the birth of her daughter. And so, Julie was welcomed into the SJ family, at the start of January 2019, quickly establishing herself as an invaluable asset to our Shropshire and West Midlands teams. It’s a win-win! She gets the work/life balance she needs; we get an exceptional administrator.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her children and socialising with friends. Her love of cooking is tempered by an exercise class or two at her local gym to burn off those extra pounds!!
